Initially as CE provider for pharmacists, PharmCon and The Rx Consultant have grown to provide accreditation for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses, and physicians. Accreditation

PharmCon is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing education since 1994.

ACPE
The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is the national agency for the accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy and providers of continuing pharmaceutical education.

PharmCon is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing education since 1994.

As an approved Florida Board of Pharmacy provider of continuing education programs for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, PharmCon/Rx Consultant reports credits to CE Broker for Florida licensed participants who have provided their license number, including prefix, in their profile.

PharmCon offers pharmacytechnician-specific 24 activities for all PTCB recertification and reinstatement candidates. Pharmacy technician-specific activities are indicated both in the TARGET AUDIENCE description and the ACPE UNIVERSAL ACTIVITY NUMBER (denoted with a T at the end).

Accreditation

The Rx Consultant by PharmCon, is an approved course provider for continuing education for advance practice nurses and registered nurses.

Rx Consultant courses (PharmCon accredited) meet pharmaco-therapeutics/pharmacology requirements for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Category 1 Continuing Education Hours for certification renewal. The same hours submitted to renew certification may be submitted to a State Board of Nursing for re-licensure. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accepts formally approved continuing education sponsored by organizations accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). PharmCon is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Advanced Practice Nurses (nurse practioners and cliniical nurse specialists) 

ANCC is transitioning to updated renewal requirements, which will be fully in effect as of January 1, 2014. The expanded renewal categories in this application may be used immediately. These requirements are:

 

  1. All renewal applicants will be required to fulfill Category 1 (75 contact hours) as half of their professional development requirement. The other half may be fulfilled with any professional development category (1-6).
  2. All advanced practice nurses (nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists) must include at least 25 contact hours of pharmacology to fulfill their Category (1) requirement.
  3. At least 50% (37.5 hours) of your 75 continuing education hours must be formally approved continuing education hours. Formally approved continuing education hours meet one or more of the following criteria listed below
    • Continuing nursing education (CNE) approved for nursing contact hours by an accredited provider or approver of nursing continuing education and/or;
    • Continuing medical education (CME) approved for CME hours and/or;
    • Sponsored by organizations, agencies or educational institutions accredited or approved by the: American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) or the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Registered Nurses
The Rx Consultant by PharmCon, is a provider of continuing education (CE) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 13118. CE programs in The Rx Consultant are accepted by the following State Boards of Nursing: AL, AK, AR, CA, DC, DE, FL, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, ME, MI, MN, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VI, WA, WI, WV, WY.

 

The following State Boards of Nursing do not require continuing education for license/certification renewal for registered nurses. Some of these states are also listed above because continuing education is required for advanced practicing nurses license/certification renewal and CE programs in The Rx Consultant are accepted.: AZ, CO, CT, GA, HI, ID, IN, KY, MD, ME, MO, MT, NY, OK, SD, VA, VT, WA, WI, WY.

The following State Boards of Nursing do not accept CE programs from The Rx Consultant: NY, UT.

Accreditation

PharmCon activities may be approved in conjunction with a provider fully accredited by the American Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education for physicians. 

Accreditation of Council for Continuing Medical Education
Collectively, the ACCME and its recognized state medical societies accredit approximately 2,500 providers of continuing medical education. ACCME accredited providers educate physicians throughout the United States. State accredited providers primarily educate physicians within their own state or surrounding states.
